Abstract

746,053. Lampholders. CROMPTON PARKINSON, Ltd. July 6, 1954 [June 16, 1953], No. 16583/53. Class 38 (1). A lampholder for fluorescent tubular lamps comprises an insulating socket 2 slidable in a housing 1 by means of interengaging projections 3 and recesses 4 and carrying a pair of plunger contacts 10, the socket being biased by a spring 5 engaging an insulating member 6 which bears on a rib 7 of the socket 2 and on the ends of the plunger contacts. A hole 9 on the member 6 co-operating with a projection 8 on the socket 2 locates the member 6, and the forward travel of the socket is limited by a screw 15. Slots 16 are provided for the side pins of the lamp and the earth connection for the lamp cap is through the spring from one end 19 to the other connected to a terminal 22. A cover 17 can be slid back to allow insertion of the lamp.
