[Class 135] A gas tap is fitted with means to prevent the tap being operated to turn off the supply by a single rotary movement of the operating handle, a further deliberate operation on the part of the user being necessary to effect a complete closing of the cock. In the form shown in the Figs. 2 and 5, a stop-plate m adjustably secured to the cock casing by set screws passed through slots p in the stop plate into engagement with tapped holes in lugs on the casing is formed with a recess u one side of which v has a projecting tongue. A flanged member i slidably but non-rotatably mounted on the plug spindle g carries the operating knob j and is formed with a hooked projection k adapted to snap into the recess under the influence of a spring y. Outward movement of the handle is limited by a headed screw y masked by an elongated filling piece 10 pressed into a recess in the knob to form an indicator. When turning the plug towards the open or closed positions, movement is stopped by the engagement of the projection k with the tongue until the handle is moved axially to move the projection clear of the tongue. When the projection is within the recess the gas supply is reduced to a simmering or slow-boiling position. According to the Provisional Specification the adjustable stop is formed on a cap screwed into the cock body and secured by a set-screw passing through a slot in the body and the plate carrying the projection k has a pair of dove-tail projections on which the knob is engaged by a transverse movement.
