Abstract

[Class 135] [Also in Group XI] A valve device, particularly adapted for regulating the passage of gas to gas burners and of the kind having inlet and discharge ports controlled by separate valves each of which is independently adjustable has the two valves actuated by a common operating member having a lost motion connection with one valve whereby it can be adjusted to any position from closed to fully open and then the other valve can be adj asted to any position from closed to fully open without altering the setting of the first valve. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the actuating spindle 14 has a screwdriver slot 16 and a radial pin 17 adapted to co-operate with a depending lug 18 on the rotary cylindrical or tapered inlet valve 6. The actuating spindle is also formed with a boss 21 having radial arms 19 housed between a partition 20 and the valve 6, said boss carrying an eccentric pin 22 engaging a transverse slot in a flattened part 22 of the outlet valve 7. This valve, which comprises a cylindrical part with a pointed end 8, is adapted to co-operate with an aperture 2 in the nozzle 9 and is guided by the flattened part sliding in longitudinal grooves in the casing. In a modification of this form the actuating spindle is formed integrally with the rotary cylindrical valve and the crank pin is formed on a separate piece having a lost motion connection with the cylindrical valve. In the form shown in Fig. 11 the rotary valve has a projection 64 adapted to co-operate with a lug 65 on the valve 61 which is formed with a cam groove 63 engaging a fixed pin. In a modification of this form the actuating spindle is formed integrally with the member provided with the cam groove. In another form the actuating spindle is formed integrally with the outlet valve and has a radial pin engaging the inlet valve and a screw-threaded enlargement engaging a corresponding thread on the casing. In modifications of the form shown in Fig. 11 the rotary inlet valve seats in a manually operable plug cock whereby the supply may be interrupted without altering the adjustment of the inlet and discharge valve.
