545,908. Regulating; pumps. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO. Nov. 7, 1940, No. 16214. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1939. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi] In engines provided with pumps supplying fuel to the cylinders, the stroke of the pump is controlled in accordance with the pressure in the induction pipe on the engine side of the throttle, and a byepass valve is provided for controlling the quantity of air or mixture flowing to the engine. The stroke of the fuel pump 27 is controlled by a stop 36 on an arm 35, which is adjusted by a cam 42 connected to a piston 45 operating in a cylinder connected at 50 to the air &c. conduit 16. Air &c. is supplied by a rotary pump 13 with byepass valves 64, 68, the former being opened at low loads by connections 65, 66, 20, 21 to the pedal 23 actuating the throttle 18, and -the latter opening under high speeds. When the throttle is opened quickly for accelerating, the piston 45 is forced down, and the fuel-pump stroke thereby increased, by a bell crank 52 connected to the pedal 23. In a modification the pump 13 is driven by a turbine, the supply of exhaust to which is controlled by a byepass valve actuated by the pedal 23, which is also connected to the cam 42.
