Abstract

694,465. Cylinder heads; valve gear. LANOVA AKT.-GES. April 4, 1951 [Sept. 6, 1950], No. 7826/51. Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi). An induction passage 4 in a liquid-cooled or air-cooled cylinder head 1 has an opening in the top wall 6 of the head located ahead of the plane B B through the axes of the inlet and exhaust valves and within a plane A A perpendicular to the plane B B and passing through through the axis of the cylinder bore, and passes in a double curve towards the seat 3 of the inlet valve 2. An elbow 7 forming a continuation of the passage is connected to the wall 6 by a flange 8, and provides by means of a flange 10 a connection for an air strainer, carburetter or induction manifold. The elbow may serve as a pedestal for supporting on pivot pins 11 the valve-actuating levers 12, and have cast-in-steel pipes for lubrication of the lever bearings.
