Abstract

543,510. Vehicle &c. brakes. PORSCHE, F. April 23, 1940, No. 7325. Convention date, July 13, 1939. [Class 103 (i)] Brakes in which the shoes are actuated by means of a cable or rod 9 attached to an arm 8 of a bell-crank lever 7 pivoted on a shoe 2, the other arm of the bellcrank lever being connected to the other shoe 1 by a connecting rod 14, are adapted to have the shoes locked in the released position in order to admit of ready adjustment of the cable 9. In the construction shown in the Figure, the bell-crank lever 7 lies between the limbs of the U-shaped section connecting rod 14 and is locked by the insertion of a bolt 37 into a hole in the rod 14. Alternatively the lever 7 may be of U-shaped section to contain the connecting rod.
