522,224. Controlling motor-vehicle brakes. BENDIX, Ltd., and ROBERTS, G. P. Dec. 9, 1938, No. 35933. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 79 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] Brakes on the front end rear wheels of a vehicle are applied simultaneously by a common pedal or lever and the brakes on the front wheels are of the type having a pair of shoes each of which acts as a leading shoe in the forward direction of travel while the shoes of the rear brakes are of the non-servo fixed type.. A greater braking effort is thus applied to the front than to the rear wheels. The front brakes may be of the type in which both shoes act as leading shoes in both directions of drum rotation for example as described in Specification 499,598 or of the type in which one shoe acts as a leading shoe in both directions of drum rotation and the other shoe acts as a leading shoe in the forward direction only.
