Abstract

463,222. Vehicle brakes. PORSCHE GES., DR. ING. H. c. F. April 30, 1936, No. 12288. Convention date, May 20, 1935. [Class 103 (i)] In equalizing mechanism for brakes more particularly for motor vehicles the ends of all the brake cables 10 engage with a common plate 12 or in pairs with separate plates lying crosswise one upon the other, the plate or plates being arranged to tilt in all directions on a bearing 15 which can be moved from the brake pedal 20. The bearing comprises a ball joint between a lever 17 moved by the pedal and a rod 14 on which the plate 12 is adjustably mounted. The cables are adjustable in the plate 12. The plate 12 has spherical boundary surfaces adapted to engage a fixed guiding cylinder 32. The lever 17 is also operable by a hand lever 25. When separate plates lying crosswise are used these plates are moved together by the pedal and one alone is operated by the hand lever by means of a fork so that the hand lever only operates the rear wheel brakes. The invention may be applied to six wheel vehicles.
