Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand, foot, and transmission gear in conjunction with; brakes, arrangement and disposition of, and braking.-The back brakes of Ford cars, which are ordinarily applied by a hand lever 13 acting on rods 7, can also be applied by the usual footbrake pedal 11 simultaneously with the front or foot brake. For this purpose the pedal 11 is connected by a rod 10 to a cross shaft 3 having forked arms 6 which engage behind collars 8 fixed on the rods 7, so that the back brakes can be applied separately by the hand lever 13, while the pedal 11 applies both sets of brakes.
