Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand, foot, and transmission gear in conjunction with. -A pedal operates, in succession, brakes on the back and front wheels, a hand-lever being employed to increase the action of the front brakes. A pedal a is connected by a link b to a lever arm c on shaft A actuating the back brakes through levers d<1>, d<2> and cables e', e<2>. The shaft A also carries a lever arm f connected by a slotted link g to a lever arm i on a shaft B actuating the front brakes through levers k<1>, k<2> and cables l<1>, l<2>, the parts being so arranged that the back brakes are applied first, and the front brakes are then applied while the back brake action is increasing. A hand-lever m, with a. lug n engaging a slot in the end of the shaft B, is turned to increase the grip of the front brakes, but remains unaffected during the movement of the pedal a.
