Abstract

541,270. Turning-gear. LEYLAND MOTORS, Ltd., and PILKINGTON, V. W. May 18, 1940, No. 8895. [Class 7 (v)] An auxiliary flywheel 4 is clutched to the engine shaft 2 at starting conjointly with any action normally taken for starting the engine, such as the movement of the de-compressor lever or putting the gear-lever to neutral. Disengagement of the flywheel 4 is effected conjointly with any vehicle starting operation such as the engagement of a gear or parking brakerelease. It is also dis-engaged when the main clutch is dis-engaged, but not, conversely, engaged when this clutch is engaged.
