Abstract

540,363. Spray carburetters. TORELL, L. H. July 10, 1939, No. 20045. Convention date, July 9, 1938. [Class 7 (iii)] A rich mixture formed by fuel issuing from a nozzle 4 and air passing down a choke tube 1 is heated in a zig-zag passage E around which the cylinder cooling water flows, and the main air is admitted through a spring-loaded valve 45 which is thus opened by engine suction. The mixture passes a gauze 42 and baffles 40, 41 to the induction passage M. The valve 45 controls a row of air ports, but a hand control enables it to be held closed at starting. The fuel supply from a float chamber is controlled by induction pipe suction which through an adjustably spring-loaded piston in a cylinder P rotates a rod O having a transverse port.
