Abstract
200,384. Flower, J. W. July 26, 1922. Spray carburettors.-A suction-actuated hollow piston g open at its lower end and moving in a cylinder f admits air to a jacket space m whence it passes to a tube d to which fuel is admitted by a valve h, i the rod of which traverses the tube and is adjustably connected to the piston valve. The fuel-valve rod is so shaped that it tends to close the fuel passage j as the piston is raised. The piston and the cylinder in which at slides are provided in their walls with m unterlating or V- shaped ports n, k respectively connected by slotlike openings o, k<1>. The edges of the ports @ are bevelled. A heating jacket p connected to the exhaust or cooling water systems may be provided. The head portion i of the fuel valve cuts off the fuel when the piston is in its lowest position. Suction is transmitted to the piston through the tube d and space m and the valve rod may be a slack fit where it passes through the wall of the tube d.
