537,724. Change-speed gearing. PRICE, F. P. March 19, 1940, No. 5050. [Class 80 (ii)] In a drive for machine tools and the like, a shaft or screw D is driven at normal speed by a train F, shaft. B, and clutch J, or is driven at low speed by a train E, pinion K, clutch L, countershaft C, and gears G, the clutches being engaged alternatively, with a neutral position, by means of a hand lever M. The trains and the gears G can be changed to vary the speeds, or to provide for a reverse drive. The trains may include sprocket-gearing. The shafts D, C may be associated with further trains of gearing for obtaining additional direct or reverse gear-ratios.
