Abstract

310,719. Moss Gear Co., Ltd., and Gregory, E. July 19, 1928. Driving machines.-Reversing-mechanism for gear-cutting machines is controlled by the interchange on a shaft of two clutches one being a dummy. The driving shaft 3 carries gears 5, 13. The gear 5 meshes directly with a gear 6 and the gear 13 drives a gear 11 through an idler. The gears 6 and 11 are connected as required to the driven shaft by a dog clutch 8, a dummy clutch 14 being provided at the other end of the driven shaft. The clutches are retained in position by nuts. The dummy is substantially identical in shape, weight, and dimensions, with the clutch member and the interchange of position does not affect the dynamic balance of the machine.
