Abstract
282,134. Peale, R., Davies, W. S., and Wallace, W. S. Sept 9, 1926. Clutches, friction ; reversing gearing.-The traction elements 15 at each side of a self-propelled machine 1 are driven independently from the same motor 2 through either forward or reverse driving-connections for manoeuvring the machine. The clutches for this purpose may be controlled from a distant point through four solenoids 80 on the machine, or by hand-levers. The motor 2 drives two inter-meshing spur wheels 16. 27 so that shafts 17, 28 are continuously rotated in opposite directions, and each end of each shaft may be connected by a friction clutch C, Fig. 6, to the shaft 98 of a corresponding driving sprocket 93<a>.
