Abstract
28,814. Brown, R. J. W. Dec. 21. Worm-and-wheel gearing. - In a device for driving two or more shafts by means of worms on a single shaft, this last shaft is itself driven by worm gearing. Fig. 2 shows the device applied to driving two propeller shafts j, i by means of worms on a shaft d, which also carries a worm-wheel c driven by a worm b. The worms and wheels may be made removable to provide for altering the gear ratio, and the gearing may be enclosed in a gear-case or oil-bath.
