674,902. Change-speed gearing. BIRMING- HAM SMALL ARMS CO.., Ltd., and LUPTON, A. G. June 2, 1950 [June 9, 1949], No. 15342/49. Class 80 (ii). A four-speed motor-cycle gear between a driving shaft 1 and a concentric driven sleeve 7 comprises three constant-mesh trains 11-13, 25-27 and. 33-35, of which gears 13, 35 are loose on a layshaft 3, gear 27 is fast on the layshaft, gear 33 is fast on shaft 1, gear 25 is loose on shaft 1, and gear 11 is integral with sleeve 7. Dog clutch members 23, 39, 41 are splined on the shafts to co-operate with dogs on the gears 13, 25, 35 and a dog clutch member 17 splined on the sleeve 7 also co-operates with, dogs on the gear 25. Clutches 17 and 41 are engaged for first speed, clutches 23 and 39 for second speed, clutches 23 and 41 for third speed, and clutches 17 and 39 for direct drive.
