535,234. Stuffing-box substitutes. KERMODE, W. M., and KERMODE, H. T. Nov. 9, 1939, No. 29687. [Class 122 (v)] A sleeve 3 rotating with a power transmission shaft, e.g. a propeller shaft, has a sliding key connection with a ring 7 having a surface 8 bearing against a fixed housing, and a spring 10 is located between this ring and a sleeve 11 having a .sliding key connection with the ring 7, and having a surface bearing against a ring 12 in a recess in a ring 13 having a surface 14 bearing on the fixed housing; the ring 13 has lugs 18 engaging projections 17 on the housing to prevent rotation.
