[Class 4] A flap b pivoted to the trailing part a of an aircraft wing and adapted to be turned into the position shown in dotted lines to produce a lifting effect, ox into the position shown in full lines to produce a braking effect, has flaplets d arranged in slots c and adapted to be opened automatically by the airstream. The flaplets are held in the closed position against stops e. In some cases, the flaplets are interconnected by link and lever mechanism. According to the Provisional Specification the flaplets may be operated from the pilot's cockpit.
