Abstract
486,565. Controlling aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and LOBELLE, M. J. O. April 9, 1937, No. 10182. [Class 4] Means for operating wing flaps of aircraft include an upper link 7 pivotally connected at or near the upper surfaces of the main wing and the flap, and a lower link 4 pivotally connected at or near the underside of the main wing and flap, and a hydraulic jack 9 connected between the wing and the pivot between the link 7 and the flap. As shown, a flap 2 is normally nested in a wing 1. The links may be so dimensioned that the leading edge of the wing remains' in contact with the wing during operation. Specification 467,465 is referred to.
