462,498. Controlling aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and YOUNGMAN, R. T. March 28, 1936, No. 9295. Drawings to Specification. [Class 4] In means for controlling aircraft in which an aerofoil is of less chord and is pivotally mounted about, substantially, its centre of pressure below the main wing, the aerofoil has a chord of about 0À1 to 0À5 of that of the main wing and extends over about one half of the total length of the wing, its undersurface being disposed at approximately 0À05 to 0À3 of the wing chord below the wing, and its trailing edge immediately beneath or up to approximately 0À4 of the wing chord in advance that of the main wing. The aerofoil may be adjusted to an angle of incidence between 30‹ and 50‹ and may be in two or more sections.
