Abstract
484,305. Aircraft - wing structure. DEEKAY AIRCRAFT CORPORATION, Ltd., and STILL, S. C. HART-. Nov. 3, 1936, No. 29909. [Class 4] A stressed skin aircraft wing comprises two or more spanwise cells formed by vertical members of multi-ply wood and top and bottom chordwise members of the same material, the vertical members being reinforced by beams secured thereto at or adjacent the top and bottom surfaces thereof. A main wing portion, Fig. 1, to which leading and trailing parts may be hinged comprises multi-ply webs 2 having wood flanges 4 and vertical stiffeners 9, Fig. 2, united by plywood covering 3 which may be re-inforced by fore and aft stringers 10 located by notches cut in the marginal surfaces of the webs and flanges. Bulkheads 17 may be provided. The webs 2 may taper and approach one another toward the wing tip.
