395,533. Aircraft girders. DORNIER METALLBAUTEN GES. and DORNIER, C., Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance, Germany. Aug. 29, 1932, No. 24134. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1931. [Class 4.] A spar or girder, particularly for aircraft wings, comprises drawn or rolled booms g of rectangular or approximately rectangular section with at least two ridges h to which perforated web plates i are secured. A vertically tapered girder is described having webs secured to the outer ridges at the roots, to the inner ridges at the centre, and having a single web member towards the tips secured to the innermost ridges. The surplus metal on each side of the booms beyond the outer webs may be cut away to give a girder tapering or stepped in width as well as depth.
