Abstract
327,203. Pollak, J. E., (Dicks Aeronautical Corporation). Jan. 5, 1929. Screw propellers.-A screw propeller blade is constructed in two parts from relatively thin metal welded together. The shank a and back e of the blade are integral, the shank a being rolled in circular form and welded at 1. The back of the propeller e is dished, and one edge turned to form the leading edge of the blade as shown in Figs. 8 and 9. 'The front of the blade f is formed with scarfed or bevelled edges to fit into the concave face of the back of the blade e, and secured thereto by an inlaid metal weld. The thickness of the metal of each part increases from the tip to the root. For strengthening the blade, a web g tapering in breadth and thickness may be welded to the back e and attached to the front f by welds through holes 4 spaced along the axis of the blade.
