Abstract
209,663. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). May 10, 1923. Blades. - Hollow turbine blades are constructed so that the cross - sectional area increases from the tip to the root. In one form, the blade is built-up of ot tapered sheet material 11, 12, Fig. 2. In another form a tube 20, Figs. 6 and 7. secured in the rotor, extends through the blade and is reinforced bv a solid filling 21 and side plates 22. In a third form, a tapered tongue 14a Fig. 8, integral with the rotor extends into the hollow blade. The parts of the blade are secured together by copper brazing. The blades are preferably made of a non-corrodible metal.
