574,770. Turbine and like blades. JULIEN, J. D. Aug. 3, 1942, No. 10832. [Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXXIII] The blades of water, steam or gas turbines, aircompressors, propellers and the like are formed of a core and a shell respectively of different materials and produced by forging or working a composite blank of the two materials. One part may be composed of a material having a lower tensile strength and adapted to resist heat, corrosion or vibration and the other part may be made of a material having a higher tensile strength and designed to reinforce the other part. The surfaces of the two materials are not integrally joined but the parts are interlocked, for example, by the bulbous end portions 3a of the core imbedded in the root portion 4a.
