[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [See also Group XXVI] Soldering.-A number of turbine blades provided with intermediate packing sections, which are to be secured together by being dipped in molten metal, have spaces arranged between the faces of the blades and sections, to permit easy access of a suitable flux, such as a solution of borax, and afterwards the molten metal. Parallel ridges d may be formed on the faces of the sections b, or three or more circular or other-shaped projections arranged triangularly on the section faces. Alternatively the blade edges may be corrugated. The blades and packing may be temporarily held in place by a wire threaded through the roots, by tack welding, or by a shroud. Specification 16284/99, [Class 83], is referred to.
