Abstract
329,903. Valentinsen, V. July 26, 1929. Addition to 311,203. Screw propellers. - The propeller blade according to the parent Specification is modified in that the centre and outer part of the leading faces of the blades have a pitch at the leading edge which is less than that at the following edge whilst the inner parts of the blades have the pitch at the leading edge approximately the, same as that at the following edge. The two edges of the blades are connected by a straight or slightly curved line developed to about the same extent as the outer section and thereafter continuing as a concave curve with increasing pitch to the discharging pitch of the outer sections. These sections are shown at (i) (ii) (iii) (iv). In order that the blade, may not be too heavy the thick forward portion may be made hollow with an internal section approximately that of an eclipse. In this case the blade is cast partly open in front and then the ends are bent together and wedded or the opening is closed by casting on more metal.
