Abstract
477,514. Screw propellers. HANSEN, L. Aug. 12, 1937, No. 22178. [Class 114] In screw propellers in which the blades are connected at their fore-and-aft ends with separate bosses 2 and 3 such blades are formed with their radial lengths gradually increasing from the leading edges 4a, 5a, to an intermediate position and thereafter decreasing in corresponding manner so that the line circumscribing the projection of the propeller in the plane perpendicular to the axis forms an oval. The pressure side of the blade at the leading edge is disposed in the relation to the propeller axis at an obtuse angle a. The pitch increases from the leading edge to the trailing edge.
