Abstract

460,765. Screw propellers. JAMIESON, R. Sept. 30, 1935, No. 12965. [Class 114] A screw propeller is formed with a central boss 2 outer cylindrical shroud ring 12 and blades 4, 5, 6, 7, of which the inner root portions 17 are narrow, the blades diverging toward the tip and having convex leading and trailing edges as viewed in the direction of the axis. The boss has a spherical nose, is formed hollow with ribs 8 in the vicinity of the blade roots, and has a tail 9 of double-conical form. Sections through the rim 12 may be varied as in Figs. 5, 6, 7, and the edges 14 may be serrated or of saw-toothed shape.
