Abstract

450,960. Screw propellers. DEKKER, A. J., 54, Roodborststraat, Leiden, Holland. Oct. 26, 1934, No. 30815. [Class 114] A screw propeller has a boss 1 of comparatively large diameter supporting blades 2, the length of which from root to tip is between one quarter and one half the diameter of the hub, these blades being inclined in the plane of rotation forwardly, and having sections which are practically airfoils except that the nose portion is of bulbous form. The pitch angles # of the blades are between 5 and 30 degrees. The blade length is less than the minimum width and the width increases from root to tip. The tips 3 are bulbous. The leading edge of the hub is of semi-ellipsoidal form and the tail is streamlined.
