Abstract

588,112. Variable-pitch propellers. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., and THORBURN, J. W. Dec. 9, 1944, No. 24722. [Class 114] A propeller of which the blade pitch can be adjusted by the hydraulic gear 22, and bevel gear 18. The turning moment due to centrifugal force is balanced by a torsion tube 26, secured to the blade tip at 30, and to the hub at 28. The tube section is circular at its root and is progressively flattened towards the tip.
