Abstract

464,203. Airscrews. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and FORSYTH, A. G. Oct. 12, 1935, No. 8485/37. Divided out of 463,737. [Class 114] A variable-pitch airscrew has two transverse hydraulic cylinders 112, 113 containing pistons 115, each having a cross-pin 116 which projects through the slot in the cylinder wall into a slot 118 in a gear wheel 119 concentrically mounted on an extension 120 of the boss. The pinion 119 gears with a pinion 121 on a shaft carrying a second pinion 125 which is in turn in gear with a pinion 126 on a shaft 127. The shaft 127 is threaded and carries a nut 128 having a projection which enters a slot 129 in the root of the blade. Pipes 131 .. 135 are connected to the ends of the cylinders and also through a control valve with conduits passing through the propeller shaft. Specifications 399,313 and 443,750 are referred to.
