711,546. Hydraulic couplings. MEAD, H. B. May 30, 1952 [July 4, 1951], No. 15856/51. Class 69 (2) A fixed casing contains a propeller 7 on the driving shaft 1 with blades variable in pitch by the fluid pressure on them acting against a torsion bar 2. The turbine blades 14 on the driven shaft 9 are adjusted by the hand lever 27 to give reversal. Variation in reduction ratio may be obtained by making the driving and driven propellers of different diameters, with corresponding steps in the casing diameter.
