Abstract

284,687. Vargas, M. P. Oct. 11, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 6, 1928]. Screw propellers.-Screw propeller blades 2 are attached to the boss 1 by arms 3, Fig. 1, the blades extending for part or whole of complete helix. The blades may be of aerofoil section and the radial length increase from front to rear. The blades may be spaced along the boss, or multiple propellers arranged 'on the shaft either in line or relatively displaced around the shaft, as in Fig. 11. The propeller and shaft may be situated in a recess in the hull. The blade transverse section 29, Fig. 17, exhibits a pointed front 23 with maximum thickness 27 near the leading edge, whilst the radial section is as 31, Fig. 16.
