Abstract

327,735. Heide. H. C., (Costanievich, L.). Dec. 4, 1928. Divided on 327,719. Controlling. - A streamline b o d y placed immediately behind an airscrew or other screw propeller so as to fill the normal medial cavitation area is formed as a rudder or a part of a rudder. The rudder 1. Fig. 1, is formed with a central streamline body 2 placed immediately aft of the propeller. The forward nose of the body 2 may have a duct 8 to which fluid is supplied and the tail member 2' may be lined up in the direction of the slip stream. For attachment to an existing rudder, the rudder is provided with an added streamline, body 2, Fig. 4, and the rudder post has a cover 9. In any of these constructions the section through the stream line body may be made slightly asymmetric, and further, the upper and lower parts of the rudder blade may also be given a set so as to act as counter propeller blades.
