Abstract
475,433. Aircraft with folding wings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and BOLTON, F. July 8, 1936, No. 18953. [Class 4] In aircraft with folding wings, the ailerons or flaps are permitted to drop automatically when the wings are folded and are raised automatically when the wings are extended. The aileron control shaft 20 in the fuselage is provided with a semicylindrical member 18 having cam surfaces 27, 28, Fig. 3, and a slot 29 into which fits a roller 35 on one of a pair of claws 16 on the end of the aileron control shaft 14 mounted in the wing. When the wing is folded the coupling disengages and allow the ailerons to fall. When the wing is extended the roller 35 engages the cam surfaces and the ailerons are raised into the correct position. The coupling of the flap control shaft 13, 19 is similar except that the semicylindrical members 18 and rollers 35 are duplicated.
