Abstract
519,236. Controlling aircraft. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG UND MOTORENWERKE AKT.- GES. Oct. 6, 1938, No. 28970. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1937, [Class 4] A slot forming auxiliary wing or wings 3 includes a fixed slot 5 which is open for the flow of air therethrough at least when the flap is moved into.its operative position. In one form, Fig. 2, an auxiliary wing 2, 3 is pivoted on a transverse axis 6 and in all positions of adjustment, forms with the main wing 1 a slot 4. The parts 2, 3 are separated by a slot 5 of nozzle cross-section. In another form both the main wing 1. and auxiliary wing 2, 3 are of complete aerofoil shape, the auxiliary wing being pivoted so that its leading edge lies in 'front of and below the trailing edge of the main wing. In a third form, Fig. 6, the auxiliary wing 2, 3 is connected by universal joints' 12 to rocking arms 7, pivoted at 11 to the wing 1 and in the inoperative position nests in a recess 8 in the wing 1. The port 2 is of lesser depth than the port 3 and, when the auxiliary wing is in the nested position, the step thus formed accommodates an extension 10 of the wing 1 covering the slot 5. The wings 1 may be slotted.
