Abstract
528,811. Luminescent materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., JENKINS, H. G., and McKEAG, A. H. May 15, 1939, No. 14478. [Class 39 (i)] The interior of a low-pressure mercury vapour lamp, which may also contain a rare gas, is coated with a luminescent silicate such as zinc orthosilicate, zinc mesodisilicate, zinc-beryllium silicate or cadmium silicate, mixed with a carbonate preferably of strontium or barium or a mixture thereof. The amount of carbonate is between 1 and 30 per cent, and in the case of zinc ortho-silicate is 5 per cent by weight of the silicate. According to the Provisional Specification the carbonates of calcium, zinc, cerium and thorium may be used. Specification 511,815 is referred to.
