Abstract
522,607. Luminescent materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and McKEAG, A. H. Dec. 12, 1938, No. 36165. Addition to 495,706, [Group XX]. [Class 39 (i)] To lessen the tendency to blacken in luminescent materials as claimed in Claim 1 or 3 of the parent Specification, or as modified by the inventions set out in Specifications 509,857 and 509,858, an oxide and/or a carbonate are added; the intimate mixture is used in a low pressure mercury vapour lamp. The oxides and/or carbonates of the following are mentioned :-barium, cerium, thorium, strontium, zinc, cerium, thorium, beryllium, and tin, singly or in combination. Between 2 and 10 per cent. of the added compound is proposed, but larger proportions can be used.
