Abstract
530,021. Luminescent materials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 14, 1939, No. 17409. Convention date, June 17, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] Fluorescent materials, for use in lamps such as those described in Specification 457,486 or other purposes, are composed of an oxygen compound of calcium with molybdenum and tungsten, activated by samarium and lead. As an example 20 parts of calcium oxide and 79 parts of tungstic oxide are mixed with about 0.5 per cent of samarium as oxide and 1.0 per cent of lead as acetate and the whole fired in air for about four hours at 1000‹C. The samarium may be replaced by lanthanum or erbium.
