Abstract
564,700. Luminescent materials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 21, 1942, No. 18115. Convention 'date, Dec. 31, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] A phosphor containing a tungstate or a molybdate is fired with silica or a boron compound to eliminate or transform impurities which would otherwise impair the fluorescence. For example, 900 grams of tungsten trioxide, 240 of calcium oxide, and 20.8 of lead acetate may be mixed in a ball mill, dried at about 200‹C and then fired at 950 to 1100‹ C. About 5 per cent of silicic acid may then be added and the mixture fired at about the same temperature as before.. Boric acid may be used instead of silica.
