Abstract

609,937. Luminescent materials for discharge lamps. PEARCE SIGNS, Ltd., and WINDEBANK, H. W. March 26, 1946, No. 9258. [Class 39 (i)] Means for producing visible light comprises an electric discharge device, e.g. a low-pressure mercury discharge lamp, which when operated irradiates and causes to fluoresce a material containing a.mixture of the three substances: (a) calcium magnesium tungstate with a suitable activator, (b) zinc metasilicate activated by manganese dioxide and by an amount of beryllium oxide which does not exceed 1 per cent by weight of substance (b), and (c) cadmium beryllium metasilicate with a suitable activator. The proportions by weight of the three substances are substantially as to (a) from 30 to 5 per cent, as to (b) from 60 to 50 per cent, and as to (c) from 10 to 45 per cent. The substances (a), (b) and (c) are preferably prepared as set out in Specifications 567,494, 568,789 and 568,790 respectively.
