Abstract
1299608 Luminescent materials GTE SYLVANIA Inc 23 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968] 62662/69 Heading C4S A phosphor comprises Eu activated alkaline earth pyrosilicate containing Mg. The phosphors have a general formula where M is Ca, Sr and/or Ba; 2À25 # a # 1À75, 1À25 # b # 0À75 and 0À40 # c # 0À0004. A single phase phosphor is prepared by blending alkaline earth and Mg carbonates, SiO 2 and Eu 2 O 3 with NH 4 Cl flux using glass balls and firing in 80% N 2 , 20% H 2 saturated with water vapour. The phosphors are used in Hg discharge lamps.
