Abstract

520,816. Spray burners. DOAN, J. A. May 4, 1939, No. 13377. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XII] To consume smoke and gases arising from a coal fire, arcuate burners 14 are arranged in the combustion chamber 11 to deliver a sheet of flame across the path of the smoke &c. The burners each comprise a chamber with a removable top which carries a number of elbows 20 fitted with perforated nozzles 22. Air is supplied to the burners from valve-controlled pipes 30 and oil by means of valve-controlled pipes 24 which pass axially through the air pipes and are provided within the burners with branches 25 which lead through the elbows 20 to the nozzles. The air also passes through the elbows to the nozzles where it mixes with the oil. The burners may be straight instead of arcuate.
