Abstract

546,890. Bakers' ovens; atmospheric gas burners. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CROSLAND, E. M. Feb. 16, 1942, No. 2030. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XII] The burner 7 heating a bakers' oven or other heating chamber is connected to mixing tube 5 into which a stream of gas issuing at a high velocity from a nozzle 3 induces a flow of air through a chamber 12 from a jacket containing slag-wool asbestos-wood or other insulating material 9 surrounding the oven. Any moisture deposited in the material 9 is thereby removed and deposits of dust or flour on the mixing tube tending to affect the air and gas ratio are prevented. The chamber 12 is surrounded by a perforated plate 11 and a gauge shield 10. The air flow from the chamber 12 to the mixing tube may be regulated by an adjustable screw 14. The air is preferably filtered before entering the oven' jacket. In another construction the air from the jacket instead of being drawn through the chamber 12 is drawn through an annular chamber surrounding the nozzle 3. The air may enter the jacket through perforations below the oven floor or through a casing at the front of the oven.
