Abstract
520,119. Transformers. FERRANTI, Ltd., and PORTER, G. L. Oct. 28, 1938, No. 31168. [Class 38 (ii)] The tapped winding W is connected between leads A, B by cam-actuated reversing switches P1, P2 and tapping switches T1 ... T5. The sequence of operation from maximum in one direction with switches P1, T1 closed is to proceed as usual as far as closing T4, then instead of closing T5 a switch Z is closed whereupon T4, P1 are opened and T2, P2 closed, thereafter Z is 'opened and the sequence proceeds as usual until only T5, P2 are closed. The location of the switch Z at one end of the reactor R enables the sequence to proceed through zero boost in one step.
