Abstract

808,515. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 25, 1957 [March 28, 1956], No. 9678/56. Class 38 (2). An on-load tap-changing arrangement for a transformer comprises a first diverter circuit associated with alternate tapping points 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 of a transformer winding and including a switch B, a second diverter circuit associated with points 2, 4, 6, 8 and including a switch A and an impedance R in series, and a third diverter circuit connected across the impedance R and including a switch C. Heavy printing shows the current flow through the tapping point 1. In order to change to 2 connection T1 is made, switch A is closed, switch B is opened and switch C is closed. In order then to change to tapping point 3 the connection T2 is moved to point 3, switch C is opened, B is closed and A is opened. These sequences are followed in changing the tapping up to tapping 9.
