Abstract
886,830. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. Oct. 8, 1958 [Oct. 17, 1957], No. 32117/58. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] On-load transformer tap-changing equipment comprises two tap selectors each connected to an associated main contact of a change-over switch directly and to an associated auxiliary contact through a resistor, the ratio between the opening time of the connection to a main contact (i.e. when current flows only through the associated resistance contact) and the opening time of the connection to a resistance contact (i.e. when current flows only through the newly connected resistance contact) being equal to the ratio of the powers interrupted at these contacts when the transformer is short-circuited. The change-over switch is operated by a spring drive, the sequence ratio between the opening times being secured by suitable selection of the mass of the moving parts, of the force of the springs and of the resistors. The resistance contacts may be of material having a greater resistance to burning than the material of the main contacts.
